The BEST Homemade Bagels

This bagel recipe is incredibly easy to make and is super delicious. I hope you enjoy this recipe!

Ingredients:

For the Dough:

  • 3 cups of water
  • 2 tbsp. of brown sugar
  • 4 1/2 tsp of yeast
  • 1080g of all-purpose flour
  • 4 tsp of salt
  • 2 tbsp. of cooking oil

For the Boiling:

  • 3 quarts of water
  • 3 tbsp. of brown sugar
  • 1 tsp of baking soda

Instructions:

  • Mix the water, sugar, yeast, flour, and salt together.
  • Knead the dough for 10 minutes.
  • After the kneading add the oil in and knead until it becomes smooth.
  • Oil a large bowl and place the dough inside to rest for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Punch down the dough and cut it into 16 pieces.
  • Shape each bagel and let them sit for another 20 minutes.
  • After they are all puffy and risen boil them in the baking soda and brown sugar water.
  • Boil them on each side for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  • Place them on a lined baking tray greased with butter.
  • Add whatever toppings of your choice (everything, sesame, poppy, etc.)
  • Bake for 15 minutes at 425°
  • Flip the bagels over and bake for another 5-10 minutes for until golden brown.
  • Cool and enjoy!
